Our Co-location/Rackspace allows you to place your own server and network hardware into our premises, taking advantage of the massive investment DMGi has made in its data centre, and share our bandwidth as your own. This represents a significant saving when compared with a simalar level of service and bandwidth into your own place of business.

It's as easy as setting up your machine and bringing it physically to our Guildford based offices. We will help you install it in to our rack. We provide you an IP, bandwidth, and power to your server. Once it's up and running, you can access it much like you would access a Web site or dedicated server. The difference being that you own the hardware.

Advantages of Co-location

  1. The biggest advantage of co-location is the potential cost saving for bandwidth. For example, a low cost 2Mb, limited bandwidth business grade SDSL line from other suppliers can cost around £209 + £149 setup fee (May 2007), but for less than a third of the price, a single server can be placed in our co-location facility that provides higher bandwidth speeds and better redundancy for the network connections. These savings can be even greater if your only dedicated network access is a more expensive full or fractional T1 line.

  2. Efficient power management facilities. At our data centre, we provide regulated and monitored power generators and backup power to protect against unplanned power failures and fluctuations.

  3. You own the hardware. If you decide that your machine is too slow or doesn't have enough memory, you simply upgrade the server to your own requirements.

  4. You own the server software, simply install the tools you want to use when you need them. If you decide to use ASP or ColdFusion, you can just purchase and install the software.

  5. Flexiblity in future.

  6. Your server is stored and maintained in a secured environment. Tested by independent organisations.

  7. Many extra services can be provided for your servers, private firewalled subnets, remote BIOS level access and remote hands service and much more.
