What is dSpam?

dSpam is DMGi's email scanning system that provides combined anti-spam and anti-virus filtering. Using a combination of products to provide a multi-tiered system, dSpam checks your incoming email at the internet level before it passes to you. Incoming email is scanned and filtered into several categories - known spam and viruses are blocked before they are delivered to you, and clean email is passed on. If an email arrives that falls between these categories it will be held in quarantine for you to check.

Why use a multi-tiered system?

Using more than one product allows us to both provide multiple levels of scanning, increasing the reliability of the scanning service. Additionally it allows us to mix and max the facilities offered by different systems and seperate the load on the first level scanning servers from the quarantine servers accessed by our customers.

How can dSpam help me?

If you have been using email for a while you will have noticed the growth in spam - our own experience shows that between 80-90% of email that arrives at our servers is undesirable. Whether you use our own POP3 mailboxes or have your own email server this results in time and bandwidth being wasted downloading and examining messages that you don't even want.

dSpam reduces this waste by filtering out a large percentage of these nuisance emails leaving you to concentrate on the messages that you actually want. A combination of filtering, system blacklists, individual blacklists and whitelists, and personal scoring provide you with the ability to tailor the system to your requirement.

Additionally, dSpam provides virus scanning of all email and attachments, blocking many malicious emails before they are delivered to you, giving you an extra layer of protection beyond any personal anti-virus software you may have installed.

Whilst no anti-spam system can guarantee the removal of every spam email that is received, dSpam will reduce the time you waste dealing with spam, giving you more time to concentrate on the matters that are important to you or your business.
